This trophy was donated by the, now sadly no longer practicing, Lintman archery club, who lost the use of their field last year and before closing their doors very kindly donated all their equipment, and some funds to other clubs. We will be shooting the next two Saturdays (10th and 17th) and will then return to the usual alternating Saturday days and Friday evenings, with the first Friday evening being 23rd April. We will also be starting a new beginners course this Saturday (10th).

Thanks for your patience.

February 23rd 2021 – Following yesterdays government update on the route out of lockdown, we are tentatively planning a return to archery on Saturday 3rd April! Watch this space!

January 14th 2021 – All archery is cancelled during lockdown #3. We will update everyone when we can return. Thank you.

December 31st 2020 – Happy New Year!

2020 started as one of the most exciting years for Compton Archery . We were running more club events than ever, sending more archers to compete at external events than ever and were taking on more beginners than ever before. We were heavily investing in kit to grow the club and looking forward to putting a number of our senior archers through their Level 1 coaching course to grow our coaching capability. Covid has of course put a hold on all this progress, although we have still seen a consistent demand for beginners courses and are really pleased to have seen so many new archers join us through this difficult year. We’re really hoping that we can pick up where we left off some time in 2021 and get back to all the great things we had planned. We look forward to seeing you all in 2021 for some great archery, especially those archers who haven’t been able to shoot with us through the Covid situation. Happy New Year everyone!

Happy New Year to all our Archers! Looking forward to seeing everyone in 2021!

December 19th 2020 – The last shoot of 2020! It’s been a challenging year but we finished on a high note with a lovely sunny mornings archery session. We wish all our archers and their families and friends a very healthy and happy Christmas and New Year. We look forward to seeing you all for a good archery year in 2021!

December 19th 2020. The final shoot of the year. Happy Christmas!

December 5th 2020 – The end of lock down #2 and we got back to some shooting on Saturday. Nice to be back out there again with the sun shining, albeit a bit chilly! Everyone shot a Portsmouth round and pretended to be indoors 😉

** December 2nd 2020: Covid-19 Update **

Lockdown #2 has now finished and Archery is allowed to run again (with restrictions). At Compton Archery we are shooting outside only every Saturday as the weather allows. We will cancel sessions if it looks VERY wet or VERY windy, but otherwise we’ll be there! The first session back will be Saturday 5th December.

Unfortunately we are still not taking on any new beginners because we don’t want to start anyone on a course which might be fragmented to due breaks caused by the weather etc. Learning archery outside in the winter just isn’t ideal. We’ll wait until we have indoor facility use again before we do this. In the meantime please do contact us and we’ll put you on our beginners course waiting list. Thanks.

** November 2nd 2020: Covid-19 Update **

All archery is on-hold during the November lockdown period. We will issue updates as and when we get them. Thank you.

October 10th 2020 – the sun is still shining on the archery field!

** October 1st 2020: Covid-19 Update **

The archery indoor season has reached us (1st Oct) and we still have no indoor facilities due to our leisure centre remaining closed. However! For all our AGB members, we are going to continue to shoot outdoors throughout the Autumn and Winter for as long as the weather allows! Time to get good at those Frostbite rounds 😉 We are also trying to replace Friday evening sessions with Saturday day sessions, which essentially means shooting every single Saturday.

For new beginners looking to join us, this does unfortunately mean that we can’t take you on for the time being because we really don’t want your beginners course being interrupted or ruined by the weather. But please do contact us with interest and we’ll be back to you as soon as things change!

** September 19th 2020: Beginner courses update **

Due to the ongoing Covid situation, we are currently unable to take on any new beginners due to lack of indoor facilities. We don’t want to start any new archers on a course only to find that we need to cancel sessions due to poor weather and fragment the course. However! As soon as our indoor facilities are back up and running we will be only too happy to welcome new archers along so please email us at compton.archery@gmail.com and we’ll put you on the waiting list. Thanks!

** September 2020: Covid-19 Update **

We are STILL waiting for the leisure centre to open and its looking like October before that happens. We are very sorry about this but unfortunately its completely out of our control. In the meantime we are continuing to run Archery GB (AGB) members only outdoor sessions on Saturdays starting from 10:30. You should be receiving emails about these sessions. You must book a slot with us before attending these as there are still strict Covid-19 target sharing guidelines in place. The archery outdoor season normally ends in September but we will continue to run Saturday sessions outdoors for as long as possible although they will become more and more dependent on the weather. Thank you for your patience.

** August 2020: Covid-19 Update **

We are still waiting for the leisure centre to open and currently have no date for that. In the meantime we are running Archery GB (AGB) members only outdoor sessions on alternate Friday nights and Saturday mornings. You should be receiving emails about these sessions. You must book a slot with us before attending these as there are still strict Covid-19 target sharing guidelines in place. Thank you.

** July 2020: Covid-19 Update **

We are back! (sort of). On 11th July our Archery GB members tested the new Covid-19 socially distancing archery procedures in readiness for a proper return at the end of the month when our leisure centre and associated facilities are open again. Watch this space!

** June 2020: Covid-19 Update **

Following guidance from Archery GB on the safe return to archery, we are tentatively planning a return to outdoor archery towards the end of June. Risk assessments and plans are being prepared. Unfortunately due to the limitations of borrowing kit, initially sessions will be for archers with own kit only and will be on a first come first served basis with sessions being booked online beforehand. Please keep an eye on your email for further details.

** March 17th 2020: Important message re: Covid-19 **

Given the current situation and in light of the Government announcement yesterday regarding non-essential social gatherings, we have made the difficult decision to put all archery sessions on hold, pending developments.

This was not an easy decision but the health and safety of our members and their wider families must be our primary concern. We wish you all well and hope to get things going again as soon as we can.

The Compton Archery team.
